Moore's Beach

Moore's Beach on the Delaware Bay, Delmont, NJ. Desolate and isolated. Washed out in a storm many years ago.   Very hard to get to now, but beautiful.  Click on the pic.Posted by Picasa

    Yeah, that's true. Only problem is that this beach is about two miles past where the "maintained" dirt road ends. When I took this picture my brother and I had to drive his 4WD truck through potholes the size of his truck. Some of them were filled with more than a foot of water either from rain or seepage(sp?)from the encroaching bay on either side. Parts of the un-maintained road even had sections where the bay did run freely, albeit shallow, from both sides.

    Once you reach the shore the cool thing is that it is so remote that it gives your mind a chance to concentrate on the water, the sky, and the birds. As you can see, there are some pilings from previous structures but nothing else but where nature has overtaken mans development.

    So like you said, perfect for an uninterupted hike on a crisp, fall afternoon with time for a lot of reflection. Depending on the time of year and the tides, most people that go out there now are people who want to see natural beauty for its own sake, and those occasional partiers who make the decision against their own better judgement to go out there. You do hear of people getting stuck out there and having to wait for the tide to go or need to get towed.
